Floor console air conditioning in London

Floor console air conditioning across London

Where a room in Westminster has deep cornicing or a picture rail, a console keeps the walls above it clear. Where a house in Westminster has a bay window, a console can sit where the radiator was. The urban heat island effect means London bedrooms can stay uncomfortably warm on summer nights.

Prices in London

Our London guide price for floor console air conditioning is £1,795–£3,895 per room, VAT included. London is one of the dearer parts of the UK for trades, which shows in the range. Quotes move with the length of the pipe run, where the outdoor unit can sit and how much electrical work the job needs. As an example, the Popular option (quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room) would typically be £2,295–£3,095 here.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

For most houses in London, the outdoor unit is permitted development if it passes the MCS 020(a) noise check (37 dB(A) or less at the nearest neighbouring window) and stays within the size and number limits. We run that check on survey.

The survey

At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote. We book surveys in London at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards.

FAQ

Floor console air conditioning in London

Which parts of London do you cover?

All of London, including Islington, Westminster, Bexley and Barking. Each district has its own page below with local details.

How much does floor console air conditioning cost in London?

Our London guide range is £1,795–£3,895 per room, including VAT.

Will the outdoor unit need planning permission in London?

Most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions. Flats and listed buildings usually need permission or consent. We check on survey.

Is the survey free?

Yes, for new installations on the mainland. The survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation.

Are floor consoles quieter than wall units?

They are similar. Because they sit lower in the room you may notice the fan a little more at high speed, so we size them so they normally run on a low setting.

Can the pipes go under the floor?

On suspended timber floors, usually yes, which hides them completely. On solid floors we run them out through the wall behind the console.
