Common questions about air-to-air heat pumps

Can an air-to-air heat pump replace my boiler?

It can replace the space heating, but not hot water. If any gas, oil or LPG boiler stays in use, even just for hot water, the installation does not qualify for the grant, and the heat pump itself must be MCS-certified.

Will an air-to-air heat pump be cheaper than storage heaters?

In most homes running costs fall significantly, because the heat pump uses a fraction of the electricity for the same heat.

Why can't you just quote from floor area?

Two rooms the same size can need very different units because of glazing, orientation and use. Sizing from floor area alone is the main cause of systems that never feel right.
