How it works

How an installation works, from enquiry to handover

Four stages, a free survey and a written price before anything is fixed to your walls.

Surveyor measuring a living room
  1. 1

    Tell us about the job

Use the guide price tool, the form or a call. We ask a few questions and book a survey.

  2. 2

    Free survey

An engineer measures the rooms, checks pipe routes, electrics and the outdoor unit position.

  3. 3

    Written, fixed quote

You get a written quote naming the equipment, the work and the price. No obligation.

  4. 4

    Install and handover

We fit, pressure test, vacuum and commission, then show you how everything works.

What the survey covers

The engineer measures each room, notes glazing and orientation, checks wall construction and the consumer unit, and agrees where the outdoor unit can go. For heat pumps we calculate heat loss for a cold day in your area. In England and Wales we also run the MCS 020(a) noise check for the outdoor unit.

What the quote includes

The make and model of every unit, the pipe routes, any electrical work, access equipment and making good, the price including VAT and the payment stages. It is fixed once the specification is agreed.

Installation day

Dust sheets down, wall plates and brackets fixed, pipework run and insulated, then a nitrogen pressure test, a deep vacuum and commissioning. Most single rooms are done in a day. Read the step-by-step guide.

After installation

We recommend an annual service. Larger systems above the F-gas thresholds also need documented leak checks, which we can schedule for you.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Is the survey really free?

For new installations on the UK mainland, yes: the survey and written quote cost nothing and you are under no obligation. Surveys on islands not joined by a bridge and in remote parts of the Highlands and Argyll are by arrangement, with any travel cost quoted first. Repair and service visits are charged at a price agreed before we visit.

How quickly can you install?

Lead times depend on the season and the job. We give you an installation date with your quote. Spring is usually the easiest time to book before summer.

How long does installation take?

Most single rooms take one day. Multi-room systems take one to three days, ducted systems longer.

Will it be messy?

We protect floors and furniture, keep drilling dust to a minimum and clean up before we leave.

What payment terms do you use?

Payment terms are set out in your written quote before you agree to anything. See our terms for the standard arrangements and your cancellation rights.
