Home air conditioning in Greater Manchester
Milder summers in the North West mean designing for winter comfort as much as for a heatwave. North West summers are cooler, so many systems here earn their keep as efficient heaters, with cooling for the warmest weeks.
Conservatories and orangeries in Manchester can swing from too hot in July to too cold in January. For a kitchen-diner in Manchester, we place the indoor unit clear of the hob and plan the outdoor unit at the rear. Garden offices used every day in Manchester need cooling in summer and efficient heat in winter. Many homes start with one or two rooms. A system can be designed so that more rooms are added later without replacing the outdoor unit. Design-led units, slim floor consoles and concealed ducted systems are all options where a standard white wall unit would look out of place.

Planning and permissions
England's rules let most houses fit an outdoor unit without a planning application, as long as the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions are met. Flats, listed buildings and roof-mounted units are treated differently.
If your home in Greater Manchester is replacing fossil fuel or electric heating, and no gas, oil or LPG boiler stays in use, an MCS-certified air-to-air heat pump may qualify for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, which the MCS-certified installer claims and deducts from the price.
