Floor console air conditioning in Brixton
Where a room in Brixton has deep cornicing or a picture rail, a console keeps the walls above it clear. The urban heat island effect means London bedrooms can stay uncomfortably warm on summer nights.
If your home in Brixton is bay-fronted or period, a console often suits it better than a high wall unit. We cover Brixton as part of London, roughly 2 miles from central London. Coverage includes SW2.
Prices in Brixton
Guide prices around Brixton run from £1,795 to £3,895 per room including VAT. Prices here sit above the national middle, reflecting London labour rates and parking and access costs. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. For reference, the Popular option in Brixton (quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room) usually comes to about £2,295–£3,095.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.
The survey
We book surveys in Brixton at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. On a survey in Brixton the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
