Home air conditioning

Design-led and low-profile air conditioning

Design-led air conditioning uses indoor units chosen for how they look as well as how they perform: flat-fronted panels, matt black, silver or wood-effect finishes, and very slim or low-profile bodies. They work exactly like a standard split system, cooling in summer and heating in winter, but sit more comfortably in a living room, kitchen or bedroom you have spent time designing.

Which finishes are available?

Most major manufacturers offer at least one premium range with a flat front and a choice of white, matt black, silver or textured finishes, plus some very slim models for tight spaces above doors and windows. Your quote names the exact make, model and finish, and we can show you product photos and dimensions before you decide.

Can the pipework be hidden too?

Yes, where the building allows. A designer unit loses much of its appeal if it sits above a run of white trunking, so we look for routes through the wall directly behind the unit, inside cupboards, through a ceiling void or under a suspended floor. Where a surface run is unavoidable we can paint trunking to match the wall.

Are premium units quieter?

Often, but not always. Quiet operation depends on the model and the size chosen. We pick a unit that runs in its quiet range most of the time and give you the published sound levels with the quote.

FAQ

Design-led and low-profile air conditioning: your questions

Do design-led units cost more to run?

Running cost depends on the efficiency rating, not the finish. Many premium ranges have high seasonal efficiency ratings, which we show on the quote.

Can I see the finish before ordering?

Yes. We send product photos and links to the manufacturer's information so you can check colour and size.

Is the outdoor unit different too?

Usually not. Outdoor units are similar across ranges, so we place it where it is least visible and can be serviced.
