Design-led and low-profile air conditioning across Gwynedd
Design-led units suit Bangor homes with feature walls or open-plan rooms where the unit is always in view. In Bangor, a flat-fronted unit is a neat way to add cooling to a living room without a bulky white box. In North Wales, an air-to-air system can be an efficient way to heat holiday homes and bungalows, with cooling as a bonus.
Prices in Gwynedd
Our North Wales guide price for design-led air conditioning is £1,745–£3,445 per room, VAT included. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical North Wales labour rates. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. Typical Flat-fronted work (flat panel unit in white, black or silver for a living room) lands around £2,095–£2,745 in this area.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Since 1 June 2026, Welsh permitted development rules for outdoor units closely match England's: up to 1.5 m³, two units on a detached home, one on other homes, and MCS 020a noise compliance. Listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions on units facing a road.
The survey
The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. We book surveys in Gwynedd at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards.
