Home air conditioning in Devizes
South West summers are milder on the coast, but sheltered towns and south-facing rooms still overheat, and efficient winter heating matters just as much. Devizes is about 17 miles from Swindon and falls within our Wiltshire coverage. Homes in SN10 are all within our coverage.
Rooms and systems
If an older system in your Devizes home uses R22, replacement is usually the route, because it can no longer be recharged. In an older house in Devizes, the loft and any existing bulkheads decide whether a ducted layout will work. Design-led units suit Devizes homes with feature walls or open-plan rooms where the unit is always in view. Drip and drain faults are a common reason a system in Devizes stops working properly in the first hot week.
If heating matters as much as cooling, an air-to-air heat pump sized for winter can replace old electric heaters room by room, and still cool in summer. Many homes start with one or two rooms. A system can be designed so that more rooms are added later without replacing the outdoor unit.
Guide prices in Devizes
As a guide, homes in Devizes can expect £150–£1,250 for a repair, £1,195–£2,950 per room for a bedroom or loft unit and £95–£185 per system visit for a service, VAT included. Installations are fixed in writing after a free survey; visits are priced before we come.
Planning and permissions
For most houses in Devizes, the outdoor unit is permitted development if it passes the MCS 020(a) noise check (37 dB(A) or less at the nearest neighbouring window) and stays within the size and number limits. We run that check on survey. Flats need more care: get your freeholder's written consent first, and expect the planning rules for a block of flats in Devizes to be stricter than for a house.
If your home in Devizes is replacing fossil fuel or electric heating, and no gas, oil or LPG boiler stays in use, an MCS-certified air-to-air heat pump may qualify for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, which the MCS-certified installer claims and deducts from the price.
