Home air conditioning in Wiltshire
Damp South West winters make the dehumidifying side of a heat pump almost as useful as its cooling. Coastal breezes help, but inland South West towns and glazed rooms still see uncomfortable peaks.
For a garden room in Swindon, the outdoor unit usually sits on a small stand behind the building. If a system in Swindon has needed gas before, the original leak was probably never fixed. Smart control is a simple upgrade for Swindon homes with a working system but no app. For a single hot bedroom or living room, a wall-mounted split is usually the simplest answer. Two to four rooms often suit a multi-split on one outdoor unit, while a ducted system hides everything except the grilles. Existing systems need care too: an annual service, an occasional deep clean and prompt repairs keep them efficient and quiet.

Planning and permissions
In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.
Wiltshire is in the Boiler Upgrade Scheme area, so eligible homes replacing oil, gas, LPG or electric heating may be able to get £2,500 off an air-to-air heat pump, as long as no fossil-fuel boiler stays in use. An MCS-certified installer must claim it; we confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.
