Air conditioning replacement and removal in Winchester
During building work in Winchester, units can be recovered and removed so the job can go ahead safely. Summers in the South East are among the warmest in the country, so cooling often comes first, with efficient winter heating as a bonus.
Units over fifteen years old in Winchester homes are worth replacing before they fail completely. Winchester sits around 12 miles from Southampton, inside our Hampshire area. We cover SO23 and SO25 and the streets around them.
Prices in Winchester
Air conditioning replacement and removal in Winchester typically comes in at £240–£595 to remove and recover one system including VAT, based on South East England rates. Prices here sit above the national middle, reflecting South East England labour rates and parking and access costs. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. As an example, the Like-for-like option (replace one system using sound existing routes) would typically be £1,395–£2,745 here.

Planning and permissions
Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.
The survey
A survey in Winchester usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
