Air conditioning replacement and removal across Gloucestershire
Replacements in Gloucester can often reuse an existing bracket and wall opening where they are sound. Units over fifteen years old in Gloucester homes are worth replacing before they fail completely. Coastal breezes help, but inland South West towns and glazed rooms still see uncomfortable peaks.
Prices in Gloucestershire
Our South West England guide price for air conditioning replacement and removal is £195–£495 to remove and recover one system, VAT included. That is close to the UK middle for this kind of work. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. Typical Like-for-like work (replace one system using sound existing routes) lands around £1,150–£2,250 in this area.

Planning and permissions
Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.
The survey
A survey in Gloucestershire usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes. On a survey in Gloucestershire the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
