Floor console air conditioning across Powys
If your home in Newtown is bay-fronted or period, a console often suits it better than a high wall unit. Where a house in Newtown has a bay window, a console can sit where the radiator was. South Wales summers can be warm and humid, and winters damp, so a reversible system earns its keep all year.
Prices in Powys
Floor console air conditioning in Powys typically comes in at £1,245–£2,695 per room including VAT, based on South and Mid Wales rates. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical South and Mid Wales labour rates. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. For reference, the Popular option in Powys (quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room) usually comes to about £1,595–£2,145.
Essential

Popular
Quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Powys can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
The survey
At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote. We book surveys in Powys at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards.
