Floor console air conditioning in Newtown
In South and Mid Wales, efficient heating is often as important as cooling. If your home in Newtown is bay-fronted or period, a console often suits it better than a high wall unit.
Where a house in Newtown has a bay window, a console can sit where the radiator was. As well as Newtown itself, our Powys coverage takes in Brecon, Llandrindod Wells and the towns around them. Postcode districts we cover here include SY16.
Prices in Newtown
Budget around £1,245–£2,695 per room including VAT for floor console air conditioning in and around Newtown. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical South and Mid Wales labour rates. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. On our South and Mid Wales figures, the Popular option (quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room) is about £1,595–£2,145.
Essential

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Since 1 June 2026, Welsh permitted development rules for outdoor units closely match England's: up to 1.5 m³, two units on a detached home, one on other homes, and MCS 020a noise compliance. Listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions on units facing a road.
The survey
A survey in Newtown usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
