Floor console air conditioning in Altrincham
If your home in Altrincham is bay-fronted or period, a console often suits it better than a high wall unit. In the North West, heating efficiency is often the main benefit, with summer cooling a welcome bonus.
Where a house in Altrincham has a bay window, a console can sit where the radiator was. Altrincham sits around 8 miles from Manchester, inside our Greater Manchester area. Postcode districts we cover here include WA14.
Prices in Altrincham
In North West England, our guide range for floor console air conditioning is £1,295–£2,795 per room, including VAT. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical North West England labour rates. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. As an example, the Popular option (quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room) would typically be £1,645–£2,245 here.
Essential
Standard console for a bedroom or study.
Popular
Quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
England's rules let most houses fit an outdoor unit without a planning application, as long as the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions are met. Flats, listed buildings and roof-mounted units are treated differently.
The survey
The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. A survey in Altrincham usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes.
