North West summers are cooler, so many systems here earn their keep as efficient heaters, with cooling for the warmest weeks. Design-led units suit Accrington homes with feature walls or open-plan rooms where the unit is always in view.
For Accrington houses with decorated or panelled walls, a slim unit with concealed pipework keeps the room looking finished. Our Lancashire coverage takes in Accrington, about 14 miles from Preston. We cover BB5 and the streets around them.

Planning and permissions
In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.
The survey
Surveys in Accrington cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. A survey in Accrington usually takes one to two hours.
