Design-led and low-profile air conditioning in Newport, Gwent
In South and Mid Wales, efficient heating is often as important as cooling. For Newport houses with decorated or panelled walls, a slim unit with concealed pipework keeps the room looking finished.
In Newport, a flat-fronted unit is a neat way to add cooling to a living room without a bulky white box. As well as Newport itself, our Gwent coverage takes in Cwmbran, Pontypool and the towns around them. Homes in NP10, NP11, NP18, NP19 and NP20 are all within our coverage.
Prices in Newport, Gwent
Our South and Mid Wales guide price for design-led air conditioning is £1,695–£3,345 per room, VAT included. It is a touch below the UK middle, as trade rates in South and Mid Wales tend to be. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. As an example, the Flat-fronted option (flat panel unit in white, black or silver for a living room) would typically be £2,045–£2,695 here.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Newport can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
The survey
At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
