Home air conditioning in Derby
Summer peaks in the East Midlands make bedrooms under the roof the hardest rooms to keep comfortable. Derby is one of the main towns we cover in Derbyshire, alongside Chesterfield and Long Eaton. We cover DE1 and the streets around them.
Rooms and systems
Where a house in Derby has a bay window, a console can sit where the radiator was. We service most makes found in Derby homes, including systems we did not install. We check the armoured supply cable on every Derby garden room before quoting. Homes near busy roads and kitchens around Derby tend to need a deep clean more often.
If heating matters as much as cooling, an air-to-air heat pump sized for winter can replace old electric heaters room by room, and still cool in summer. Flats, listed homes and garden rooms each bring their own questions, from freeholder consent to cable routes, and we cover them at survey.
Guide prices in Derby
On our East Midlands figures, a multi-split is typically £2,345–£7,445 for 2–4 rooms, a wall-mounted system £1,095–£2,845 per room, and a ducted system £5,245–£14,345 per system, all including VAT. Installations are fixed in writing after a free survey; visits are priced before we come.
Planning and permissions
Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission. For flats in Derby, the lease and the freeholder's consent come first. Planning rules for blocks of flats are stricter than for houses, and we check them before quoting.
Derby is in the Boiler Upgrade Scheme area, so eligible homes replacing oil, gas, LPG or electric heating may be able to get £2,500 off an air-to-air heat pump, as long as no fossil-fuel boiler stays in use. An MCS-certified installer must claim it; we confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.
