Multi-split air conditioning in Merthyr Tydfil
In a house in Merthyr Tydfil with a usable loft, multi-split pipes can often run through it so the front stays clear. South Wales summers can be warm and humid, and winters damp, so a reversible system earns its keep all year.
Twin and triple systems suit Merthyr Tydfil homes where bedrooms sit above the kitchen and one rear wall can take the outdoor unit. Merthyr Tydfil sits around 19 miles from Bridgend, inside our Mid Glamorgan area. Coverage includes CF47.
Prices in Merthyr Tydfil
Guide prices around Merthyr Tydfil run from £2,245 to £7,145 for 2–4 rooms including VAT. Labour rates in South and Mid Wales keep this slightly under the national middle. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. Typical Triple work (three rooms with mixed indoor styles and Wi-Fi control throughout) lands around £3,095–£4,995 in this area.
Twin
Two rooms on one outdoor unit, wall-mounted indoor units, standard routes.
Triple
Three rooms with mixed indoor styles and Wi-Fi control throughout.
Quad
Four or five rooms, longer concealed runs or a ducted unit in a loft void.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Merthyr Tydfil can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
