Multi-split air conditioning in Gelligaer
Multi-split is a good fit for Gelligaer flats and maisonettes where only a balcony or one rear wall is available. South Wales summers can be warm and humid, and winters damp, so a reversible system earns its keep all year.
In a house in Gelligaer with a usable loft, multi-split pipes can often run through it so the front stays clear. We cover Gelligaer as part of Mid Glamorgan, roughly 18 miles from Bridgend. Coverage includes CF82.
Prices in Gelligaer
Guide prices around Gelligaer run from £2,245 to £7,145 for 2–4 rooms including VAT. It is a touch below the UK middle, as trade rates in South and Mid Wales tend to be. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. For reference, the Triple option in Gelligaer (three rooms with mixed indoor styles and Wi-Fi control throughout) usually comes to about £3,095–£4,995.
Twin
Two rooms on one outdoor unit, wall-mounted indoor units, standard routes.
Triple
Three rooms with mixed indoor styles and Wi-Fi control throughout.
Quad
Four or five rooms, longer concealed runs or a ducted unit in a loft void.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Since 1 June 2026, Welsh permitted development rules for outdoor units closely match England's: up to 1.5 m³, two units on a detached home, one on other homes, and MCS 020a noise compliance. Listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions on units facing a road.
The survey
On a survey in Gelligaer the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
