Garden room and home office air conditioning in Purley
The urban heat island effect means London bedrooms can stay uncomfortably warm on summer nights. For a garden room in Purley, the outdoor unit usually sits on a small stand behind the building.
We check the armoured supply cable on every Purley garden room before quoting. Purley is about 11 miles from central London and falls within our London coverage. We cover CR8 and the streets around them.
Prices in Purley
In London, our guide range for garden room and home office air conditioning is £1,895–£4,145 per system, including VAT. That is above the UK middle, mainly because labour and access cost more in London. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. For reference, the Popular option in Purley (3.5 kW unit with Wi-Fi to warm up before you walk down the garden) usually comes to about £2,345–£3,245.
Essential
2.5 kW unit for a small office pod.
Popular
3.5 kW unit with Wi-Fi to warm up before you walk down the garden.
Premium
5 kW unit for a large studio or gym, or concealed routing.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.
The survey
We book surveys in Purley at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
