Garden room and home office air conditioning across the Isle of Wight

We check the armoured supply cable on every Newport garden room before quoting. For a garden room in Newport, the outdoor unit usually sits on a small stand behind the building. The South East sees some of the UK's warmest summer days, and south-facing rooms and conservatories feel it first.

Prices on the Isle of Wight

In South East England, our guide range for garden room and home office air conditioning is £1,745–£3,845 per system, including VAT. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. For reference, the Popular option on the Isle of Wight (3.5 kW unit with Wi-Fi to warm up before you walk down the garden) usually comes to about £2,195–£2,995. Travel, ferry or accommodation costs are not in these figures; they are quoted as a fixed amount in writing before you book.

If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.

The survey

On the Isle of Wight we often start with photos, room measurements and the make of any existing system, so the survey visit is focused and any travel cost can be quoted in writing first. Where travel is involved, we agree the survey arrangements and any travel cost up front. On the day, the engineer measures the rooms, checks the electrics and agrees the outdoor unit position with you.
