Floor console air conditioning across the Isle of Wight

Where a house in Newport has a bay window, a console can sit where the radiator was. Where a room in Newport has deep cornicing or a picture rail, a console keeps the walls above it clear. The South East sees some of the UK's warmest summer days, and south-facing rooms and conservatories feel it first.

Prices on the Isle of Wight

In South East England, our guide range for floor console air conditioning is £1,645–£3,595 per room, including VAT. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. On our South East England figures, the Popular option (quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room) is about £2,145–£2,845. Travel, ferry or accommodation costs are not in these figures; they are quoted as a fixed amount in writing before you book.

HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.

The survey

On the Isle of Wight we often start with photos, room measurements and the make of any existing system, so the survey visit is focused and any travel cost can be quoted in writing first. Where travel is involved, we agree the survey arrangements and any travel cost up front. On the day, the engineer measures the rooms, checks the electrics and agrees the outdoor unit position with you.

FAQ

Floor console air conditioning on the Isle of Wight

Which towns on the Isle of Wight do you cover?

All of the Isle of Wight, including Newport, Isle of Wight, Ryde, Cowes and East Cowes. Each town has its own page below with local details.

Will the outdoor unit need planning permission on the Isle of Wight?

Most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions. Flats and listed buildings usually need permission or consent. We check on survey.

How much does floor console air conditioning cost on the Isle of Wight?

Our South East England guide range is £1,645–£3,595 per room, including VAT. Travel is quoted separately.

Is the survey free here?

Surveys here are by arrangement, with any travel or ferry cost quoted as a fixed amount before you book.

Can the pipes go under the floor?

On suspended timber floors, usually yes, which hides them completely. On solid floors we run them out through the wall behind the console.

Do consoles cool as well as wall units?

They cool well, but cold air sinks, so a high wall unit spreads cooling further across a large room. In most living rooms a console is perfectly comfortable.
