Floor console air conditioning in Wickford
If your home in Wickford is bay-fronted or period, a console often suits it better than a high wall unit. Low rainfall and long summer days in the East of England make south-facing rooms the first to overheat.
Where a room in Wickford has deep cornicing or a picture rail, a console keeps the walls above it clear. Our Essex coverage takes in Wickford, about 10 miles from Southend-on-Sea. Postcode districts we cover here include SS12.
Prices in Wickford
For Wickford, expect roughly £1,495 to £3,295 per room, VAT included, adjusted for typical East of England rates. Prices here sit above the national middle, reflecting East of England labour rates and parking and access costs. Quotes move with the length of the pipe run, where the outdoor unit can sit and how much electrical work the job needs. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.
The survey
On a survey in Wickford the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows. We book surveys in Wickford at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards.
