Floor console air conditioning in Brighton
If your home in Brighton is bay-fronted or period, a console often suits it better than a high wall unit. The South East sees some of the UK's warmest summer days, and south-facing rooms and conservatories feel it first.
Where a house in Brighton has a bay window, a console can sit where the radiator was. Brighton is one of the main towns we cover in East Sussex, alongside Eastbourne and Hastings. Postcode districts we cover here include BN2.
Prices in Brighton
Our South East England guide price for floor console air conditioning is £1,645–£3,595 per room, VAT included. South East England is one of the dearer parts of the UK for trades, which shows in the range. What moves a quote in Brighton up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. As an example, the Popular option (quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room) would typically be £2,145–£2,845 here.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.
The survey
Surveys in Brighton cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. On a survey in Brighton the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
