Floor console air conditioning in Houghton Regis
Where a house in Houghton Regis has a bay window, a console can sit where the radiator was. Low rainfall and long summer days in the East of England make south-facing rooms the first to overheat.
Where a room in Houghton Regis has deep cornicing or a picture rail, a console keeps the walls above it clear. We cover Houghton Regis as part of Bedfordshire, roughly 5 miles from Luton. Postcode districts we cover here include LU5.
Prices in Houghton Regis
In the East of England, our guide range for floor console air conditioning is £1,495–£3,295 per room, including VAT. That is above the UK middle, mainly because labour and access cost more in the East of England. What moves a quote in Houghton Regis up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. Typical Popular work (quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room) lands around £1,945–£2,645 in this area.

HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.
The survey
We book surveys in Houghton Regis at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. On a survey in Houghton Regis the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
