Air conditioning for extensions and kitchen-diners in Winsford
Milder summers in the North West mean designing for winter comfort as much as for a heatwave. For a kitchen-diner in Winsford, we place the indoor unit clear of the hob and plan the outdoor unit at the rear.
An extension in Winsford with a roof lantern or large glazed doors can overheat quickly on a sunny afternoon. We cover Winsford as part of Cheshire, roughly 14 miles from Warrington. We cover CW7 and the streets around them.
Prices in Winsford
Our North West England guide price for air conditioning for extensions and kitchen-diners is £1,395–£4,245 per space, VAT included. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical North West England labour rates. What moves a quote in Winsford up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. Typical Large single work (one 5–7 kW unit for a large glazed space) lands around £1,945–£2,695 in this area.
Single unit
One 3.5–5 kW unit for a medium extension.
Large single
One 5–7 kW unit for a large glazed space.
Twin units
Two indoor units on a multi-split for long or L-shaped spaces.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
England's rules let most houses fit an outdoor unit without a planning application, as long as the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions are met. Flats, listed buildings and roof-mounted units are treated differently.
The survey
On a survey in Winsford the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
