Storage and electric heater replacement in March
Long sunny spells in the East of England put conservatories and top-floor rooms under real pressure. For March landlords, swapping storage heaters for a heat pump is one of the more effective EPC improvements.
Flats and bungalows in March that have never had gas are the usual candidates for replacing storage heaters. Our Cambridgeshire coverage takes in March, about 14 miles from Peterborough. Homes in PE15 are all within our coverage.
Prices in March

The East of England is one of the dearer parts of the UK for trades, which shows in the range. What moves a quote in March up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. Typical Bungalow or house work (four rooms on one outdoor unit) lands around £5,545–£8,895 in this area.
Small flat
Two or three rooms replacing storage heaters.

Four rooms on one outdoor unit.

Prices are shown before any Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. The £2,500 air-to-air grant applies only to eligible homes in England and Wales, using an MCS-certified heat pump installed by an MCS-certified installer, who applies for the grant and deducts it from the price. We confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
England's rules let most houses fit an outdoor unit without a planning application, as long as the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions are met. Flats, listed buildings and roof-mounted units are treated differently.
If your home in March is replacing fossil fuel or electric heating, and no gas, oil or LPG boiler stays in use, an MCS-certified air-to-air heat pump may qualify for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, which the MCS-certified installer claims and deducts from the price.

We book surveys in March at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. A survey in March usually takes one to two hours.
