Ducted air conditioning in Bath
In the South West, a system that heats well through damp winters is often as valuable as summer cooling. Ducted systems suit Bath loft conversions and new extensions where ceilings are being boarded anyway.
For a renovation in Bath, the best time to plan ducted cooling is before the plasterers arrive. Bath sits around 41 miles from Taunton, inside our Somerset area. Coverage includes BA1.
Prices in Bath
In South West England, our guide range for ducted air conditioning is £5,450–£14,950 per system, including VAT. That is broadly in line with national guide prices. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. For reference, the Zoned option in Bath (motorised dampers or two units for separate floors or room groups) usually comes to about £7,450–£10,950.
Single zone
One ducted unit serving two or three rooms from a loft or void.
Zoned
Motorised dampers or two units for separate floors or room groups.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.
The survey
The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. Surveys in Bath cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare.
