Ducted air conditioning in Cardigan
In an older house in Cardigan, the loft and any existing bulkheads decide whether a ducted layout will work. In South and Mid Wales, efficient heating is often as important as cooling.
Ducted systems suit Cardigan loft conversions and new extensions where ceilings are being boarded anyway. Cardigan sits around 22 miles from Carmarthen, inside our Dyfed area. Postcode districts we cover here include SA43.
Prices in Cardigan
Ducted air conditioning in Cardigan typically comes in at £4,995–£13,745 per system including VAT, based on South and Mid Wales rates. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical South and Mid Wales labour rates. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. For reference, the Zoned option in Cardigan (motorised dampers or two units for separate floors or room groups) usually comes to about £6,845–£10,045.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In Wales, outdoor units of up to 1.5 m³ that meet MCS 020a noise limits are usually permitted development on houses; listed buildings need consent, and in conservation areas a unit cannot go on a wall or roof facing a road.
The survey
Surveys in Cardigan cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
