Air-to-air heat pumps in Rhyl
Ask at your Rhyl survey whether the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant could apply to your home. In North Wales, an air-to-air system can be an efficient way to heat holiday homes and bungalows, with cooling as a bonus.
Homes in Rhyl on electric, oil or LPG heating are the ones most likely to benefit from an air-to-air heat pump. Rhyl is about 28 miles from Wrexham and falls within our Clwyd coverage. That includes the LL18 postcode district.
Prices in Rhyl
For Rhyl, expect roughly £2,745 to £10,745 for 2–5 rooms, VAT included, adjusted for typical North Wales rates. Labour rates in North Wales keep this slightly under the national middle. What moves a quote in Rhyl up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. For reference, the Small home option in Rhyl (three or four rooms heated and cooled) usually comes to about £4,195–£6,995.
Two rooms
Living room and main bedroom on one outdoor unit.
Small home
Three or four rooms heated and cooled.

Prices are shown before any Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. The £2,500 air-to-air grant applies only to eligible homes in England and Wales, using an MCS-certified heat pump installed by an MCS-certified installer, who applies for the grant and deducts it from the price. We confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Rhyl can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
Rhyl is in the Boiler Upgrade Scheme area, so eligible homes replacing oil, gas, LPG or electric heating may be able to get £2,500 off an air-to-air heat pump, as long as no fossil-fuel boiler stays in use. An MCS-certified installer must claim it; we confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.
