Wall-mounted air conditioning in Gorseinon
In a semi or terrace in Gorseinon, the indoor unit often goes on a back bedroom wall with the outdoor unit on a bracket below. Wet South Wales winters make a heat pump's quiet, even heating and dehumidifying mode useful well beyond summer.
Where a home in Gorseinon faces the street, the outdoor unit usually goes at the rear, out of sight. We cover Gorseinon as part of West Glamorgan, roughly 5 miles from Swansea. Postcode districts we cover here include SA4.
Prices in Gorseinon
In South and Mid Wales, our guide range for wall-mounted air conditioning is £1,045–£2,695 per room, including VAT. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical South and Mid Wales labour rates. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. On our South and Mid Wales figures, the Popular option (quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room) is about £1,445–£1,995.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In Wales, outdoor units of up to 1.5 m³ that meet MCS 020a noise limits are usually permitted development on houses; listed buildings need consent, and in conservation areas a unit cannot go on a wall or roof facing a road.
The survey
On a survey in Gorseinon the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
