Wall-mounted air conditioning in Penarth
South Wales summers can be warm and humid, and winters damp, so a reversible system earns its keep all year. In a semi or terrace in Penarth, the indoor unit often goes on a back bedroom wall with the outdoor unit on a bracket below.
A single wall-mounted unit is often all a bedroom or sunny living room in Penarth needs. Penarth lies roughly 3 miles from Cardiff, and we cover it as part of South Glamorgan. That includes the CF64 postcode district.
Prices in Penarth
Wall-mounted air conditioning in Penarth typically comes in at £1,045–£2,695 per room including VAT, based on South and Mid Wales rates. It is a touch below the UK middle, as trade rates in South and Mid Wales tend to be. Quotes move with the length of the pipe run, where the outdoor unit can sit and how much electrical work the job needs. As an example, the Popular option (quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room) would typically be £1,445–£1,995 here.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Since 1 June 2026, Welsh permitted development rules for outdoor units closely match England's: up to 1.5 m³, two units on a detached home, one on other homes, and MCS 020a noise compliance. Listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions on units facing a road.
The survey
At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote. Surveys in Penarth cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare.
