Wall-mounted air conditioning in Risca

Wall-mounted air conditioning in Risca

Wet South Wales winters make a heat pump's quiet, even heating and dehumidifying mode useful well beyond summer. Where a home in Risca faces the street, the outdoor unit usually goes at the rear, out of sight.

In a semi or terrace in Risca, the indoor unit often goes on a back bedroom wall with the outdoor unit on a bracket below. Risca is about 22 miles from Bridgend and falls within our Mid Glamorgan coverage. That includes the NP11 and NP10 postcode districts.

Prices in Risca

Wall-mounted air conditioning in Risca typically comes in at £1,045–£2,695 per room including VAT, based on South and Mid Wales rates. Labour rates in South and Mid Wales keep this slightly under the national middle. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. Typical Popular work (quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room) lands around £1,445–£1,995 in this area.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Risca can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.

The survey

The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. Surveys in Risca cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare.
