Wall-mounted air conditioning in Blackwood

Wall-mounted air conditioning in Blackwood

In a semi or terrace in Blackwood, the indoor unit often goes on a back bedroom wall with the outdoor unit on a bracket below. Humid summer spells in South Wales make dehumidifying and cooling equally welcome.

A single wall-mounted unit is often all a bedroom or sunny living room in Blackwood needs. We cover Blackwood as part of Mid Glamorgan, roughly 19 miles from Bridgend. Postcode districts we cover here include NP12.

Prices in Blackwood

For Blackwood, expect roughly £1,045 to £2,695 per room, VAT included, adjusted for typical South and Mid Wales rates. Labour rates in South and Mid Wales keep this slightly under the national middle. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. For reference, the Popular option in Blackwood (quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room) usually comes to about £1,445–£1,995.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

In Wales, outdoor units of up to 1.5 m³ that meet MCS 020a noise limits are usually permitted development on houses; listed buildings need consent, and in conservation areas a unit cannot go on a wall or roof facing a road.

The survey

We book surveys in Blackwood at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
