Air conditioning replacement and removal in Smethwick
Inland West Midlands towns can see sharp summer peaks, and the same system doubles as an efficient heater in winter. Replacements in Smethwick can often reuse an existing bracket and wall opening where they are sound.
Units over fifteen years old in Smethwick homes are worth replacing before they fail completely. We cover Smethwick as part of the West Midlands, roughly 3 miles from Birmingham. Coverage includes B66.
Prices in Smethwick
For Smethwick, expect roughly £190 to £495 to remove and recover one system, VAT included, adjusted for typical West Midlands rates. That is close to the UK middle for this kind of work. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. As an example, the Like-for-like option (replace one system using sound existing routes) would typically be £1,145–£2,195 here.
Remove only
Recover and remove one system, make good.
Like-for-like
Replace one system using sound existing routes.
Upgrade
New, more efficient system with new routes.
Planning and permissions
England's rules let most houses fit an outdoor unit without a planning application, as long as the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions are met. Flats, listed buildings and roof-mounted units are treated differently.
The survey
On a survey in Smethwick the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
