Air conditioning replacement and removal in Port Talbot
Wet South Wales winters make a heat pump's quiet, even heating and dehumidifying mode useful well beyond summer. Replacements in Port Talbot can often reuse an existing bracket and wall opening where they are sound.
Units over fifteen years old in Port Talbot homes are worth replacing before they fail completely. Port Talbot lies roughly 7 miles from Swansea, and we cover it as part of West Glamorgan. Homes in SA12 are all within our coverage.
Prices in Port Talbot
Our South and Mid Wales guide price for air conditioning replacement and removal is £180–£445 to remove and recover one system, VAT included. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical South and Mid Wales labour rates. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. Typical Like-for-like work (replace one system using sound existing routes) lands around £1,045–£2,045 in this area.

Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Port Talbot can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
The survey
Surveys in Port Talbot cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
