Air conditioning replacement and removal in Gateshead
Replacements in Gateshead can often reuse an existing bracket and wall opening where they are sound. Cold, windy North East winters favour a well-sized heat pump with an outdoor unit sheltered from the prevailing wind.
Units over fifteen years old in Gateshead homes are worth replacing before they fail completely. We cover Gateshead as part of Tyne and Wear. Homes in NE8 are all within our coverage.
Prices in Gateshead
Our North East England guide price for air conditioning replacement and removal is £180–£445 to remove and recover one system, VAT included. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical North East England labour rates. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. As an example, the Like-for-like option (replace one system using sound existing routes) would typically be £1,045–£2,045 here.
Remove only
Recover and remove one system, make good.
Like-for-like
Replace one system using sound existing routes.
Upgrade
New, more efficient system with new routes.
Planning and permissions
For most houses in Gateshead, the outdoor unit is permitted development if it passes the MCS 020(a) noise check (37 dB(A) or less at the nearest neighbouring window) and stays within the size and number limits. We run that check on survey.
The survey
We book surveys in Gateshead at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. On a survey in Gateshead the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
