Air conditioning replacement and removal in Grays
Low rainfall and long summer days in the East of England make south-facing rooms the first to overheat. Replacements in Grays can often reuse an existing bracket and wall opening where they are sound.
Units over fifteen years old in Grays homes are worth replacing before they fail completely. Our Essex coverage takes in Grays, about 17 miles from Southend-on-Sea. Coverage includes RM17.
Prices in Grays
In the East of England, our guide range for air conditioning replacement and removal is £220–£545 to remove and recover one system, including VAT. That is above the UK middle, mainly because labour and access cost more in the East of England. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. On our East of England figures, the Like-for-like option (replace one system using sound existing routes) is about £1,295–£2,495.

Planning and permissions
Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.
The survey
Surveys in Grays cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. A survey in Grays usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes.
