Air conditioning replacement and removal in March

The East of England is one of the sunniest and driest parts of the UK, which makes glazed rooms and lofts hard to keep cool. During building work in March, units can be recovered and removed so the job can go ahead safely.

Replacements in March can often reuse an existing bracket and wall opening where they are sound. Our Cambridgeshire coverage takes in March, about 14 miles from Peterborough. Homes in PE15 are all within our coverage.

Planning and permissions

Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.

The survey

We book surveys in March at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. A survey in March usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes.

FAQ

Common questions in March

Is the survey in March really free?

Yes, for new installations. The survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead.

How soon can you survey in March?

We offer survey dates when you enquire. Early summer is the busiest time, so spring and autumn are the easiest times to book.

Will the outdoor unit need planning permission in March?

Most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions. Flats and listed buildings usually need permission or consent. We check on survey.

How long does the installation take in March?

Removal half a day. We confirm the timing, and any days with no cooling or heating, in your written quote.

Do you cover all of March?

Yes, including PE15. We also cover nearby Wisbech and Peterborough.

Is it worth replacing an old system that still works?

If it is R22 or very old, yes, plan a replacement before it fails, because any leak will end it. Newer systems are also far more efficient.
