New build and renovation air conditioning across Staffordshire
First-fix pipework in Stoke-on-Trent extensions goes in while the joists and studs are open. For new Stoke-on-Trent extensions with flat roofs, the outdoor unit position is best agreed against the architect's drawings. Away from the coast, West Midlands summers can turn hot quickly, and bedrooms under the roof are the first to suffer.
Prices in Staffordshire
Our West Midlands guide price for air conditioning for new builds and renovations is £385–£895 per indoor position (first fix), VAT included. That is broadly in line with national guide prices. Quotes move with the length of the pipe run, where the outdoor unit can sit and how much electrical work the job needs. Typical First and second fix work (complete install priced per room including units) lands around £1,395–£2,895 in this area.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Working with your builder
Because the pipework is built into the structure, coordination with your builder matters more than planning here; the outdoor unit follows the same rules as any other installation.
The survey
Surveys in Staffordshire cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
