New build and renovation air conditioning in Cambridge

Renovations in Cambridge are the easiest jobs to make invisible, because the pipework goes in before the plaster. Long sunny spells in the East of England put conservatories and top-floor rooms under real pressure.

For new Cambridge extensions with flat roofs, the outdoor unit position is best agreed against the architect's drawings. Our Cambridgeshire coverage takes in Cambridge, about 30 miles from Peterborough. We cover CB5, CB21, CB22, CB23 and CB24 and the streets around them.

Prices in Cambridge

Guide prices around Cambridge run from £445 to £995 per indoor position (first fix) including VAT. That is above the UK middle, mainly because labour and access cost more in the East of England. Quotes move with the length of the pipe run, where the outdoor unit can sit and how much electrical work the job needs. For reference, the First and second fix option in Cambridge (complete install priced per room including units) usually comes to about £1,595–£3,295.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Working with your builder

First-fix work is about coordination, while the outdoor unit follows the normal planning rules for the property.

The survey

The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
