Home gym and media room air conditioning in Selby
Across Yorkshire, an air-to-air system is a practical way to replace old electric heaters, with cooling for the hottest spells. Basement and garage rooms in Selby usually need a quick check of the supply and the drainage route before quoting.
Garage gyms and media rooms in Selby often face the same problem: thin walls and a lot of heat from people and equipment. Selby sits around 12 miles from York, inside our North Yorkshire area. That includes the YO8 postcode district.
Prices in Selby
Our Yorkshire and the Humber guide price for air conditioning for home gyms and media rooms is £1,295–£3,195 per room, VAT included. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical Yorkshire and the Humber labour rates. What moves a quote in Selby up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. As an example, the Garage gym option (3.5–5 kW unit with supply check and pump if needed) would typically be £1,645–£2,345 here.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
England's rules let most houses fit an outdoor unit without a planning application, as long as the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions are met. Flats, listed buildings and roof-mounted units are treated differently.
The survey
Surveys in Selby cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
