Home gym and media room air conditioning across Kent
Garage gyms and media rooms in Maidstone often face the same problem: thin walls and a lot of heat from people and equipment. For a home cinema in Maidstone, we place the indoor unit so airflow stays away from the screen and seating. The South East sees some of the UK's warmest summer days, and south-facing rooms and conservatories feel it first.
Prices in Kent
In South East England, our guide range for air conditioning for home gyms and media rooms is £1,645–£4,095 per room, including VAT. That is above the UK middle, mainly because labour and access cost more in South East England. What moves a quote in Kent up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. Typical Garage gym work (3.5–5 kW unit with supply check and pump if needed) lands around £2,145–£2,995 in this area.
Spare room
2.5–3.5 kW unit for a small gym or games room.
Garage gym
3.5–5 kW unit with supply check and pump if needed.
Large space
5–7 kW unit or two units for a big gym or cinema room.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
England's rules let most houses fit an outdoor unit without a planning application, as long as the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions are met. Flats, listed buildings and roof-mounted units are treated differently.
The survey
The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. On a survey in Kent the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
