Home gym and media room air conditioning in Thurso
In the Highlands, Islands and the North East of Scotland, systems are sized for cold winter days first. For a home cinema in Thurso, we place the indoor unit so airflow stays away from the screen and seating.
Garage gyms and media rooms in Thurso often face the same problem: thin walls and a lot of heat from people and equipment. We cover Thurso as part of the Highlands, roughly 81 miles from Inverness. We cover KW14 and the streets around them.
Prices in Thurso
Budget around £1,195–£2,995 per room including VAT for air conditioning for home gyms and media rooms in and around Thurso. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. For reference, the Garage gym option in Thurso (3.5–5 kW unit with supply check and pump if needed) usually comes to about £1,545–£2,195. These figures exclude travel to Thurso. Any travel, ferry or accommodation cost is quoted separately, in writing, before anything is booked.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Scotland has its own permitted development rules for heat pumps and outdoor units, with stricter treatment of listed buildings and conservation areas. We check the current position for your property with you and, if needed, with the council.
The survey
In Thurso we often start with photos, room measurements and the make of any existing system, so the survey visit is focused and any travel cost can be quoted in writing first. Where travel is involved, we agree the survey arrangements and any travel cost up front. On the day, the engineer measures the rooms, checks the electrics and agrees the outdoor unit position with you.
