Heat load surveys and system design in Cambridge

Low rainfall and long summer days in the East of England make south-facing rooms the first to overheat. No two rooms in Cambridge gain or lose heat in quite the same way, which is exactly why rooms are measured before sizing.

Every Cambridge quote starts with a room-by-room survey rather than a guess from floor area. Cambridge sits around 30 miles from Peterborough, inside our Cambridgeshire area. Coverage includes CB5, CB21, CB22, CB23 and CB24.

Planning and permissions

England's rules let most houses fit an outdoor unit without a planning application, as long as the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions are met. Flats, listed buildings and roof-mounted units are treated differently.

The survey

The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. A survey in Cambridge usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes.

FAQ

Common questions in Cambridge

Can I get a price for Cambridge without a visit?

Yes, our online guide price tool gives a range in about a minute. A fixed price needs a survey, which is free for new installations.

Will the outdoor unit need planning permission in Cambridge?

Most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions. Flats and listed buildings usually need permission or consent. We check on survey.

How soon can you survey in Cambridge?

We offer survey dates when you enquire. Early summer is the busiest time, so spring and autumn are the easiest times to book.

Who carries out the work in Cambridge?

F-gas certified engineers working for Aircon Installers. Your contract is with S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which trades as Aircon Installers, and your quote names who will do the work and the F-gas company certificate that covers it.

How much do heat load surveys and system design cost in Cambridge?

Our guide range in the East of England is £445–£1,395 for a standalone design pack, including VAT. The exact price depends on the rooms, the pipe route and access, and we confirm it in writing after a free survey.

Why can't you just quote from floor area?

Two rooms the same size can need very different units because of glazing, orientation and use. Sizing from floor area alone is the main cause of systems that never feel right.
