Garden room and home office air conditioning in York
Yorkshire summers are mostly mild, so efficient winter heating counts for as much as cooling. Garden offices used every day in York need cooling in summer and efficient heat in winter.
For a garden room in York, the outdoor unit usually sits on a small stand behind the building. York is one of the main towns we cover in North Yorkshire, alongside Middlesbrough and Harrogate. Homes in YO1, YO10, YO24 and YO31 are all within our coverage.
Prices in York
Guide prices around York run from £1,395 to £2,995 per system including VAT. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical Yorkshire and the Humber labour rates. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. On our Yorkshire and the Humber figures, the Popular option (3.5 kW unit with Wi-Fi to warm up before you walk down the garden) is about £1,695–£2,345.

If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.
The survey
On a survey in York the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
