Garden room and home office air conditioning in Porthcawl

Garden room and home office air conditioning in Porthcawl

Wet South Wales winters make a heat pump's quiet, even heating and dehumidifying mode useful well beyond summer. We check the armoured supply cable on every Porthcawl garden room before quoting.

For a garden room in Porthcawl, the outdoor unit usually sits on a small stand behind the building. Our Mid Glamorgan coverage takes in Porthcawl, about 6 miles from Bridgend. That includes the CF36 postcode district.

Prices in Porthcawl

In South and Mid Wales, our guide range for garden room and home office air conditioning is £1,345–£2,895 per system, including VAT. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical South and Mid Wales labour rates. Quotes move with the length of the pipe run, where the outdoor unit can sit and how much electrical work the job needs. As an example, the Popular option (3.5 kW unit with Wi-Fi to warm up before you walk down the garden) would typically be £1,645–£2,245 here.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Porthcawl can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.

The survey

At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote. On a survey in Porthcawl the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
