Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Newport can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
The survey
A survey in Newport usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes. Surveys in Newport cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare.
