Garden room and home office air conditioning in Wilmslow

North West summers are cooler, so many systems here earn their keep as efficient heaters, with cooling for the warmest weeks. For a garden room in Wilmslow, the outdoor unit usually sits on a small stand behind the building.

Garden offices used every day in Wilmslow need cooling in summer and efficient heat in winter. Wilmslow lies roughly 15 miles from Warrington, and we cover it as part of Cheshire. Coverage includes SK9.

Prices in Wilmslow

In North West England, our guide range for garden room and home office air conditioning is £1,395–£2,995 per system, including VAT. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical North West England labour rates. What moves a quote in Wilmslow up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. On our North West England figures, the Popular option (3.5 kW unit with Wi-Fi to warm up before you walk down the garden) is about £1,695–£2,345.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.

The survey

The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. On a survey in Wilmslow the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
