Floor console air conditioning in Scarborough
Where a house in Scarborough has a bay window, a console can sit where the radiator was. Yorkshire summers are mostly mild, so efficient winter heating counts for as much as cooling.
If your home in Scarborough is bay-fronted or period, a console often suits it better than a high wall unit. Scarborough lies roughly 35 miles from York, and we cover it as part of North Yorkshire. Coverage includes YO11.
Prices in Scarborough
For Scarborough, expect roughly £1,295 to £2,795 per room, VAT included, adjusted for typical Yorkshire and the Humber rates. Labour rates in Yorkshire and the Humber keep this slightly under the national middle. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. For reference, the Popular option in Scarborough (quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room) usually comes to about £1,645–£2,245.
Essential
Standard console for a bedroom or study.
Popular
Quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room.
Premium
Larger capacity or concealed pipework through the floor void.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.
The survey
The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
